MadTree Brewing 2.0 Grand Opening

MadTree Entry

Facebook events have the tendency to overestimate the amount of actual attendees, however when there’s thousands “attending” and thousands more “interested”, things will probably be crazy even if half don’t show. This was the case for the MadTree 2.o grand opening in Cincinnati.

We were a little worried about the crowds– it seemed like every person I talked to was going to attend. How big can this place possibly be? How long will it take to get a drink ticket? Despite hating packed spaces, long lines, crowded bathrooms, no parking, etc. etc. we weren’t going to miss this event. Especially since one of our favorite Cali breweries (Modern Times) was a guest tap.

Outdoor BarSaturday rolls around and it’s 60+ degrees. Uh oh! Expect the drinkers out in full force! We were happily surprised to find a parking space right up front when we arrived a little after 12pm. And even with the large crowds, the place was massive enough to not be a bother.
It’s an impressive entry with a huge taproom and upgraded Catch a Fire Pizza when you first walk in. The space is essentially indoor/outdoor with garage windows leading to the beer garden. It was a huge bar with over 30 beers on tap. This is great news for someone always trying to switch it up! I tried a few new ones: Unhappy Amber, Black Forest Nitro, Treesearch and Experimental Pale Ale. All were very tasty!

MadTree Beer GardenThe outdoor area seems like it’ll be a great year-round space with the built-in heaters I saw. I’m hoping they’ll have some furniture and perhaps a bonfire out in the beer garden when summer rolls around.
Off that area, there was a decent-sized space with tables and TVs, perfect for sports watching. The guest taps were in a huge industrial event space with hundreds packed in there waiting for the next hourly release of guest beers. Unfortunately, they moved through those quickly– but it’s okay, BeerFest is next weekend!

Simply put, MadTree’s new location is AMAZING. I can’t wait to check it out again, hopefully it’s a little less crowded.
