The coffee lover in me loves a good stout. It used to be that you could only get that delicious coffee flavor with your typical dark stout or porter. That’s all changing.
One of the best coffee beers I’ve had (if not the best beer in general) was the Morning Joe at Banger Brewing in Las Vegas. Interestingly enough, it was a kolsch.
Say what? Kolsch is pretty low on my list of favorite beers so I was seriously amazed. When I closed my eyes and I sniffed the glass, I would have bet all my money it was a coffee. Take me back!
Lucky for me, local breweries have been experimenting with new coffee beers. Braxton Brewing in Covington, Kentucky just came out with a white stout made with my favorite coffee shop’s beans (shoutout to Carabello Coffee)! It’s called the Bluff and they named it perfectly– you’d think you’re drinking a pale ale by its looks.
Platform Beer Co. in Cleveland, Ohio just released High Brow Barista, a coffee rye pale ale. The name is fantastic, the video is hilarious, and I can’t wait to try it. A coffee and beer lover can relate.
